If the best part of Creed Aventus for you is that unmistakable burst of pineapple, a 2022-production bottle deserves a closer look. Aventus has always been built around a contrast: vivid fruit at the opening and a darker, elegant woody foundation. But the balance between those elements can feel different from one production batch to another. For collectors who love the fruitier expression, an older bottle can be more exciting than simply buying the newest release.
What does Creed Aventus from 2022 smell like?
Creed did not market “Aventus 2022” as a separate fragrance with an entirely different official note pyramid. It is the original Aventus Eau de Parfum from a particular production year. Its familiar composition is the place to start:
- Opening: pineapple, blackcurrant, apple and bergamot — a sparkling, juicy mix of tropical fruit, tart berries and citrus.
- Heart: birch, patchouli and jasmine — the transition from sweet, vibrant fruit to a textured, gently smoky and floral-woody character.
- Dry-down: oakmoss, musk, ambergris and soft vanilla — a smoother, earthy and musky foundation that keeps the perfume recognisably Aventus.
The pineapple is the headline for many enthusiasts. It is not meant to smell like a sugary tropical body spray: in Aventus it sits against bright bergamot, the tartness of blackcurrant and the deeper birch-and-wood accord. That contrast is what makes a pineapple-forward batch so appealing.
Why might a pineapple lover prefer a 2022 Aventus batch?
There is a difference between wanting any Creed Aventus and wanting the kind of Aventus that puts fruit first. If a bottle delivers a rounder, more noticeable pineapple opening while retaining a convincing woody dry-down, that profile can feel richer and more satisfying to someone who loves the original’s fruity signature.
This is where 2022 becomes interesting. In fragrance-collector discussions, individual 2022 batches have been described differently: for example, one wearer found 22A01A pleasantly fruity and pineapple-forward, while 22B11A placed more emphasis on birch. That is a useful reminder that batch character matters more than the year printed on the bottle.
For a pineapple fan, the appeal of an older, fruit-led Aventus is straightforward: the opening may feel rounder and more tropical rather than primarily sharp or citrusy. That does not make the fragrance objectively superior, but it can make it the better Aventus for your taste.
Creed Aventus 2022 vs newer batches: what actually changes?
Aventus remains recognisable across production years. The question is not whether newer bottles contain pineapple — they do — but how prominently you perceive the pineapple alongside citrus, woods and musk.
| What you notice | Fruit-forward 2022-style Aventus | Some newer bottlings |
|---|---|---|
| First impression | Can feel juicy, rounded and pineapple-led | May feel brighter, sharper or more citrus-led |
| Fruity character | Pineapple and blackcurrant can take centre stage | Pineapple remains present, but its balance with other notes may differ |
| Woods and musk | Birch and woods provide contrast to the fruit | Some wearers find the clean musky or woody facets more noticeable |
| Which is better? | A compelling choice if you prioritise a fuller fruity opening | A good choice if you prefer a fresher, cleaner impression |
These are possible scent impressions, not fixed rules for every bottle. There are fruity modern batches and woodier 2022 batches. We would not promise that a production date alone guarantees stronger pineapple, more projection or longer-lasting performance.
Is the 2022 batch rare?
2022 Aventus is older production stock. Creed is no longer manufacturing bottles with a 2022 production date, so an authentic bottle from that year is less straightforward to replace through ordinary current retail than a newly made bottle. That makes an existing 2022 bottle interesting to people who collect and compare Aventus batches.
However, 2022 is not automatically a numbered limited edition or one of the exceptionally scarce early-2010s collector batches. Its attraction is the opportunity to experience an earlier production run with its own character. When the fragrance from a particular bottle is used up, sourcing another bottle with the same batch identity and scent impression may not be possible.
How can you tell whether the pineapple is what you want?
Try it on skin rather than judging from the bottle’s year. Notice the first five minutes, then revisit it at around 30 minutes and again after the fragrance has settled. The bright pineapple opening naturally changes with wear; what matters is how the fruity notes interact with birch, moss and musk on your skin.
We suggest starting with a Creed Aventus 2022 Batch sample and wearing it over more than one day. A 2ml sample is a useful starting point, while 5ml and 10ml sizes offer more opportunities to compare and enjoy the scent.
2022 Aventus, Aventus Cologne or Absolu Aventus?
- Aventus 2022 Batch: choose this if the original Aventus DNA and its pineapple-versus-birch contrast are what interest you most.
- Aventus Cologne: worth sampling if you love the Creed style but prefer citrus, ginger and a fresher woody direction.
- Absolu Aventus: a stronger move towards richer spices and fruit.

Our verdict: is 2022 Aventus better if you love pineapple?
It certainly can be. The reason to seek out an older, fruit-forward Aventus is not nostalgia for its own sake: it is the chance to find the particular balance of juicy pineapple, dark fruit, birch and smooth woods that made you fall for Aventus in the first place. If modern bottles have felt a little too sharp or too clean for your preferences, a genuine 2022-production sample is an interesting comparison.
At Measured Scents, our 2022 Aventus listing is kept separate from Aventus Cologne and Absolu Aventus. You receive genuine fragrance independently transferred from our 2022-batch retail bottle into a 2ml, 5ml or 10ml atomiser — not an official Creed sample vial. We are an independent retailer and are not affiliated with or endorsed by Creed.
